We're two weeks away from a week-long vacation, so I strategized on how to shop for it. Naisip kong mamalengke na based on my two-week meal plan since may competition ang mga si Adam this coming Saturday and then we'll leave for another competition in Manila by Friday of the following week. Since nandoon na kami, we decided to extend our stay up to Easter Sunday. I also tried to plan this really well to save up because as we all know, vacation means extra expenses.
I only bought veggies for today and Monday. Dads will just drop by the market para laging fresh ang gulay for our dishes during the weekdays.
Daing na bangus has been a staple that we always have once a week. Medyo picky sa isda ang mga boys kaya we stick to what they like. Nagcrave ako ng tahong and luckily meron sa palengke at a reasonable price, P130/kilo. Plano ko sana adobong pusit pero nakita ko yung hipon, so bumili lang ako ng P200 worth (almost 1/2 kilo kasi P450/kilo).
Kahit I was able to cut my budget in half, I did not sacrifice our protein sources kasi we're feeding athletes. So I bought two chicken halves cut into adobo pieces, chicken breasts for Hainanese Chicken, 1 kg pork kasim, and two 1/4kg portions of ground pork.
Lumpia is labor-intensive, ang sakit sa likod pero preparing it in advance saves money and time in the future. It is an all-time favorite and very convenient to fry. I was able to make 60pcs from my one kilo ground pork.
Dads brings home pandesal regularly and our boys enjoy having it with tuna or sardines. We also discovered tuna sisig, which I heat in a pan then add onions, green chili, chicharon, and an egg. I also bought 3 packs of longganisa from Socorro, one for Dads' baon.
Suka at mantika for our stocks kasi nga this palengke haul is good for two weeks. The plastic cups and sticks will be for the steamed siomai we'll bring to Adam's competition for sharing.
Nanghingi kami ng malunggay para sa tahong at nagharvest sa garden ng kamias para sa sinigang na hipon for Sunday dinner.
Budget:
P3,500 (instead of P6,000/2 weeks)
Palengke: P2,451
Groceries: P629
Sukli: P420
Yung sukli ay enough to buy 2 packs of frozen siomai. Yung extra P2,500 will be used for our meals during the competition in Manila.
